Laguna self leveling headlights

I have a 2004 1.9dci Initiale Laguna with self levelling headlights. I have noticed they seem to have a mind of their own at present, the lights seem to 'jump up' when accelerating and possibly when I hit a bump. Any ideas?

Quick answer is no, however.

All factory fitted HID lights must also be fitted with a wash system and a levelling system. This can be either self levelling suspension or as is most common a self levelling headlight)

On the Omegas (My Other car) there are two level sensors, one on the front right suspension and one on the rear left. These sensors decide at what height the car is and the computer adjusts the lights accordingly. Again on the Omega if there is a fault in any part of the levelling system, a dash bulb or message is displayed on the info screen.

How that relates to a Laguna I don't know, but I do know that a common problem on the Omegas is that the linkage for the self healdlight levelling mechanism breaks and the headlights behave erratically. This is NOT detected by the HID computer.

Hope that might give you somewhere to start.

There are two position sensors on the near side of the vehicle; one on the front and one on th rear suspension.

These are attached with short links that sometimes get detached. These should be visible under the front and rear nearside wheel arch.

The other possibility is that the sensors themselves are faulty. Detach the link and move them manually and check for smooth movement of the lights.
