Talking Sat Nav External aerial on 1.9dci Sport Tourer

Has anyone fitted an external Sat Nav aerial (the magnetic matchbox sized type) to a Sport Tourer?

I know you can get reception if you mount the Sat Nav high on the windscreen by the rear view mirror, but ideally I would like it closer to the dash.

I am thinking of fitting one to the rear of the roof and bringing the wire inside at the tailgate.

If anyone has fitted one of these, which is the tidiest way to route the wire. Any suggestions/photos would be greatly appreciated.

All the best and happy christmas to all,

Your best bet is to stick the antenna to the inside of the windscreen in the hatched area. I did that with my TomTom kit in the last car and it worked a treat. Alternatively, put it on the inside of the back window (which doesn't have the coating.)

Believe it or not, people have been known to steal GPS antennae, so if you can keep it inside the car, that's a bonus.
