Scenic Central Locking

Hi all.

My central locking and RAID are working fine but when I lock the car now, it makes a loud whirring noise around the petrol cap area. Any ideas? Is the central locking about to pack up?

Thanks very much.

Added 29/12/05 - a bloke at work thinks the noise may be down to the extreme cold weather that we are having in the South East. Could this be true?

Neither of you say which model Scenic you own and Scenicrus has probably solved the problem by now anyway.

I can tell you that the Scenic phase 2 has an electric motor lock on the fuel filler flap linked to the cetral locking system. I would assume any whirring noise would be coming from this motor. To gain access to it you have to remove the offside trim in the boot. Assuming the fault is with the motor, disconnect the wiring and remove motor. Repair/Replace then refit.

I had the same problem about a year ago and simply removed the motor. Renault wanted over 60 for a replacement. Even at today's rediculously high diesel prices it would need more than a tank full to be stolen to warrant a replacement.

I "found" the same noise in our Mk II 2002 Scenic tonight. Ho hum...! If/when I get a replacement, I'll do a how to.
