Strange fault

The wife has a Clio 2000 model year 1.4 Alize. Every now and then once the ignition has been turned on the red immobiliser light flashes continously and the engine turns over but won't fire. Also some times the car starts then after two seconds dies. I have had it code checked and no fault codes are present. I have had fitted a new immobiliser ring and also a new crank sensor with modified connector. Still the problem is there. Getting frustrated now, Can anyone please help?

Looks like either the immobiliser is failing to switch off or the ECU is not recognising the immobiliser condition. May be worth checking the cabling going to the ECU as there have been known problems of chaffed cables in that area
