ABS Brain malfunction???

Hi All, please forgive my ignorance as this is my first post, but I have I need to ask for help from good Renaulteers.
I have a M reg laguna, love the car I had them as company cars when they were first about and cannot speak highly enough of them...
The ABS light comes on after a few yeards and the Man tells me th ABS has malfunctioned. We took it to our garage where they tried to check on the software and his machine couldn't read where the problem was, We took it to Renault ( 2nd Mortgage) and they couldn't tell us what the problem was because therie machine couldn't read it is unless we bought a New EMS system at 600. now the car is on the ramp being MOT'd and the problem is the ABS Light. It is not mechaniical as it has all been checked, but NOBODY CAN TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS????.

Has anyone had a similar problem or can somone point me in the right direction.

Kindest regards

Most problems with ABS systems are due to duff wheel sensors or faulty sensor rings. If they have been checked and tested it then may be the Electronic Control Hydraulic Unit. It could also be down to a poor conection to the said unit. One of the failings of electronic diagnosis is that if the diagnostic equipment can't communicate with a specific unit on the car it assumes it is faulty when in many cases it is only its connections that are poor. The ABS control unit on the Laguna II lives behind the left inner front wheel arch in front of the wheel behind the plastic covers - this area is prone to water ingress and corrosion. It would be well worth having a look
