Angry scenic key only works sometimes

Hi all how are you i gotta really annoying problem with my 97 scenic, please can some1 help me i cant take it anymore.
the key only works sometimes i've changed the batteries and its defo not that. it usually works when i press it on the bottom left but sometimes top right on the button.
it can take up to 20 mins to get the car to open and it's not fun when its raining and cold.i've looked through the forum and i dont think its the problem that alot of people have i.e reseting the key or anything like that as it does work sometimes but takes a while and when it does you can unlock / lock the car as many times as you like untill the next time you want to lock it.please help me.

If it has the infra red key, then the usual fault is that one or both of the led's legs has snapped off from the circuit board inside the key. These can usually be soldered back onto the board and the key will work normally. If you look at the led through a mobile phone camera and press the keys button then led can been seen to flash white if it is working.
