Electronics problems...

54 Clio 1.5 dCi Expression. 62,000 miles. Bought used from 'dealer' Nov 2008.

Hi guys! This is my first post and I'm really hopeing someone will be able to help - it would be really appreciated!!! I'll also apologise for the really long post but I just think the more info I give the easier it will hopefully be to help so thanks in advance!

Here goes...Since I bought the car in Nov the coil light has been coming on at intervals (mainly when going up a hill or over 60mph). It began happening more frequently and at one point the revs completely cut out when I was on the motorway with the engine still running (when I pressed the accelerator nothing happened) When I pulled over I restarted the engine and it was fine again. In addition to this last week I started having problems starting the car. The engine would turn over but wouldn't kick in but only if I started it without waiting for the glow plugs light to go out (being a diesel). If I wait for the lights to go out then nothing happens and it's almost like the battery is dead. Anyway long story short it now won't start at all no matter how much I keep trying or if I wait a while and then try again.

After reading lots of posts/threads on here I was sure it was the TDC sensor that was causing the problems so phoned around loads of garages to see if they could replace it and they said it would have to be dealt with by Renault (which I though was strange since I could do it myself). I ended up getting towed to the local Renault dealer who said they could replace it for (rounded up to nearest ) 24 inc vat for part and 71 inc vat for labour. When I went to collect the car later they said it wasn't the TDC sensor and that they had run a diagnostic faults check to see what it was (in their defence they didn't charge me shock horror!) They said it was quote 'much worse' and gave me a print out with the following codes and description on it saying that they couldn't possible allow me to drive the car away and to fix the following work would be at least 600!!! I've had to go and hire a car to get home (I live 65 miles from work) as I couldn't afford the 600!

Anyway - sorry I'll get to the point! - I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me what these codes mean as they were quite vague about what exactly they were and whether they were all a necessity to be fixed straight away or if I couldn't fix one or two and get back on the road. They basically made it seem that it all had to fixed before it could be driven at all.

The codes and info are:

DF115 - Inlet Manofold Pressure Sensor Circuit
DF117 - Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit
DF084 - EGR Valve Position Sensor Circuit
DF125 - Main Relay Control Circuit
DF027 - EDR Solenoid Valve CIrcuit
DF037 - Stop Switch Circuits

I've saved the best for last!!!!

I spoke to the dealer who I bought the car from as I hoped the car could be fixed under warrany (this was before it totally died). He has given me the runaround form the start and has been treating me like an absolute idiot! I explained the above to him and he said it was............wait for it...............the oil dipstick wasn't the correct fit! Yep! I have to buy a new oil dipstick as the one I had meant that the oil pressure wasn't right and that was causing all of the above! So I'm going to see him tomorrow to tell him that his lovely new dipstick could potentially cost me 600. They give one month part and labour warranty with the option to extend up to a year which I wasn't offered. Renault say that the faults with the car have been there since well before I bought it and that he shouldn't have sold it in that state and should therefore be willing to fix it or at least stump up for some of the costs. They also say if he refuses to help then to report him to Trading Standards and they will write a report detailing the state of the car. I'll say it loud and proud - 5th Gear Car Sales, Airdrie. www.5thgearcarsales.co.uk - Car Salesman/ of the Year - Keiran! Have to do my bit to warn everyone! I got a colleague to phone today pretending to be interested in buying a car asking specifically about a warranty and he says that what is on the website about the free lifetime of ownership warranty is not up to date and he couldn't give the correct information to decided not to comment at all on the subject which was helpful!

Anyway I'm going way off track - sorry! Is there anyone who could please help regarding these faults and advice on which is necessary to get me back on the road? Thanks in advance!

Got my car back from renault dealer today after they made it out that my car was a danger to drive.
They charged 150 to carry out a diagnostic check and then change 3 relay fuses!!! The car starts but the light is still coming on and it feels like I'm driving with the handbrake on.
Renault says I need a new engine loom... I'm taking the car to another garage as I now don't trust that dealer. Typical being a woman - you try and get help with your car and get totally conned!
