Does my car have levelling headlights?

Ah, how much I wish I had an owner's manual for my car that would tell me what I should and shouldn't have at my spec level...

Yes, I have a switch for them (at least that's what I'm under the impression the dial next to the driver's side air vent control is for), but it doesn't seem to do anything. I suppose even if they're not in the standard spec (yes, mine is a 'poverty spec' RN) it makes sense for an estate to have them, but I don't put it past the French to leave the control in place for a feature the car doesn't have (no, my 205 really didn't have intermittent wipe!)

My headlights are pretty useless compared to the 205 (this seems to be a remarkably common problem with French cars, is it lighter over there or something?!) and I'm wondering if it's because they're pointing at the sky...

I guess I should really get the headlights out and see if the motors are there and if they've ceased up, but I'm really too lazy for that sort of thing :P

I'm pretty sure that your car would have adjustable headlight aim..

The fact they are poor might suggest that they are set in the low position and stuck there.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Park it somewhere at night so the lights point onto a wall about 10 feet in front of you - use them on dipped beam. Then move the adjuster knob. You should see the lights raise and fall by about a foot on the wall.
Some versions have manual adjusters, some electric. Look on the back of the headlight unit under the bonnet. At the top towards the wing of the car will be a black squarish unit with a couple of wires attached - if they are electronic like wot mine are.

You should be able to get a manual from the Renault website. My Renault IIRC. I'll try and find a link for you...
