Vehicle speed information is obtained from one of the ABS front wheel speed sensors (not sure which one).

This info is used by the ABS unit and the instrument panel, as well as other on-board computers, depending on spec.

Your problem could quite simply be a faulty wheel speed sensor, or circuit.

Bear this in mind and have it checked as mentioned in previous posts. Unlikely to cost you an arm and a leg to get it sorted.

Thanks for that, it is booked in to be checked with renault so it is good to go along armed with this type of info so as not to get ripped off..
