I'm buying an escort I saw the other day instead, Was a bit relucant jus cos its "just" an escort but I need a car before this weekend, its a tidy low miler from a repuatable source. No alarm bells rang with that one & should serve me well!
Guess if there's things wrong when you look at it - just because the paint's shiny it doesn't mean it wont let you down!

The only time i have ever had a red light that dimms or goes out when the accellerator is pressed is when the alternator is not charging the battery properly.
Either the alternator is not providing enough juice to the battery (unless revving which increases the speed to the drive/fan belt, this generates alternator) or or the battery is on its way out. Get your alternator checked before changing the battery or it may go flat on you.
