'mileometer LIGHT' ( speedo )

The 'Light' for the mileometer on my 1997 Scenic 1.6 is not working. The speedo itself is working, it's just that it is hard to see the total mileage on the clock now, coz its very faint without being lit-up.

Will I need a new LCD screen for the mileometer or can the bulb be changed on it's own?

98,000 miles on the clock.
I have other questions about the car also in other sections...help

Normally the bulbs can be replaced. WARNING: to do it you'll have to dismantle quite a bit of the dashboard, to get the dials unit out. Make sure you make a note of where all the screws have come from.... OR when you remove each piece, put the screws back into the holes so you know where they all go for reassembly.

remove the two front speaker covers on the dash top.. You will find a couple of Torx20 screws.. On some models there is a screw under the rear middle of the dash under a removable round plastick blanking plate.. remove them.. Then pull the dash top forward and up to release it..

Remove the 3 Torx 20's that secure the instrument panel.. pull it forward and unplug the connectors.. You will then have full access to the illumination bulbs..

Renault will sell you bulb with holder for 3.50ish.. Or go to you local motor factors and buy a bag of loose capless bulbs for 10p each...
