That might be a solution, but it feels a bit OTT for running one device. I don't think I'd ever use it for running anything else, although I suppose if it was there, it might be useful?

My experience of iPAQs running TomTom are pretty favourable. What they can't do is handle extremes of temperature. If the car gets to cold, they won't charge. If the car gets too hot, they won't run. The all-in-one solution appeals for simplicity and for the ease of portability between mine and neleh's cars

Hang on a minute - I might be missing something obvious here. I wonder whether it might be possible to cannibalise the normal in car charger and wire it into the fast charger? That way I can just wire the car charger cable in behind the dash but connect it to the TomTom via the charger base. It uses the same power connector by the looks of things
