Hi All

I've got a noise coming from my alternator area which sounds like the blades of the fan inside the alternator are catching as they spin, also the batery light came on for a second then went off.
Is this the alternaor on it's way out or something else, it's been mentioned to me that it may be collapsed bearings in the alternator.
Are either of these things I should attempt myself or is it a garage job if so any idea what cost I'm looking at.

Any advice to my many Q's greatly apprieciated.

Some of the Renault alternators have a clutch which are known to give problems - so your noise could either be duff bearings or clutch.
