CD card slot radio/CD player research

Dear all,

I am keen to get rid of the Renault single slot CD player in favour of a compatable radio with an SD slot that can still handle the original Renault dash display and hand controls, and ideas are most welcome.

not available . Why do you want to keep the steering control?? do you have short arms? All the station info will display on the new head unit . Replaced my Megane stereo straight away as the CD kept overheating and going back to Radio, Garage wanted to send it away without even lending me one. Imagine driving around with no sounds.

That's their way of fobbing you off without actually fixing the fault. They know that if the problem is tolerable, most people would rather put up with it than be without a stereo while they send it away to be sorted.

My last car but one had an interesting fault on the CD changer. At first, I thought it was certain discs, but I eventually tracked it down to being whatever was loaded in slot 2. All of the other discs played as you'd expect - carrying on where they left off if you stopped and restarted the engine. Disc 2, on the other hand, would always re-start from the beginning of track one.

I took it to the dealer, and got the same story. We can send it away for you, but sorry no replacement under warranty and no loaner. So I just put up with the problem.

I'd second the sentiment about the steering wheel controls. It's nice if you can have them working, but I'd hardly consider it a priority. The first thing I did with my 1995 Laguna was swap out the Blaupunkt for a Kenwood radio/cassette/10 disc changer that I already had. I lost the use of the steering wheel remote, but never missed it.

I *think* some Blaupunkt and JVC headunits have SD slots on them, and I *think* Autoleads sell an adapter to make the stalk work, although you can kiss goodbye to the dash display.
