Hi Steve and welcome to the forum, iam not that familiar with the Clio but a guess would maybe a bulb problem maybe not seating right in its resting place making it intermittent, iam not that sure how the lens comes off? is there not 2 star style torque screws left and right inside or outside to release the lens and give you access to the bulb,if not then iam sure another member will help soon i hope this helps Donald

rear high line brake light

Hi Donald
Many thanks for your help you were right about the two torque screws holding the light cluster in place, to get to the light I had to first remove six screws holding the spoiler on then removed the rear washer pipe and unclip the electrical connection to the light then I could remove the spoiler completely so to get to the two torque screws holding the light in place when I got it out it turned out to be a sealed unit of LED bulbs so have no option but to replace the whole light cluster (which no doubt will be expensive) one small tip for anybody who may have to do this get someone to hold the spoiler when removing the screws or putting screws back in itís so easy to damage the spoiler when trying to hold with one hand and unscrew the last couple of screws or get the first couple to start when putting back on once again many thanks

Have you checked the 2 pin connection that the LED light is connected to? I have noticed that sometimes the 2 pin connector can get furred up with corrosion over time (A bit like copper wire going green when moisture get to it) - you could disconnect the light & give the pins a clean????

If you decide to go for the replcaement option, your best bet would be to either go to a local breakers yard & get another brakelight from a clio there (could get them to test it before buying it) - they may however want you to buy the whole spoiler rather than just a part of it - I've never been charged more than £30 for a whole spoiler!

You could always find a spoiler already removed and "pick one up laying about" ;o)

Alternatively look on eBay - a lot of people have removed their old spoiler/brakelight to replace it with a sportier one - most probably go for about £10! (cheaper than Renault - just make sure you contact them first to make sure they can guarantee All Leds are working!)
