Unfortunately, I think the IAT sensor is a red herring re my problem. I've taken the sensor off of the car and given the sensor terminals a good clean with sand paper - seems that contact cleaner wasn't adequate. The sensor is no longer showing open circuit and it's resistance values change when the sensor is blown with hot air from a hair dryer!
Sadly, my car continues to run rich/rough. Back to the drawing board.
