A new switch I would say, quite a common problem on some Renaults

I remember there being a recall on my laggy to stop the hazard warning lights coming on under moderate braking (I mean moderate, my front discs and pads lasted 65k miles!).

It was supposed to be a safety feature whereby these lights would come on after an emergency stop: however they were too sensitive! I've got a feeling that the functionality was disabled.

Maybe your laggy was not modified in this respect.
