Airbag light

since i've bough my car only 3 weeks ago the SERV and AIRBAG lights have come on and i've read that its the connection under the seats that is the prob most times i've checked all the connection and i've even taking out the seats to have a good look at them, once i had the seats out i found another set of connector in the floor of the car under the carpet so i'm wondering if its these connectors that are the once that cause the prob's or the one's fixed to the seat belt tensioners. Are there any other connection that can casue a prob with the air bags i have an obd II reader but it says there are no faults on the car, can renault check and say which tensioner or airbag unit is causing the fault or will they just have to check them all till they find something as i would like to know which airbag or tensioner is not going to work in a crash and i'm not willing to join the cables as i think this would cause the fuse to blow in a crash and maybe stop airbags from working.

Any help would be great

My 2001 Laguna Privilege has had an intermittent airbag warning light since I got it. Usually came on when the outside temp was very low, but then went off after driving for a minute or two. Never saw it at all in warmer weather.

Recently though, the warning light came on permanently, and is now on all the time, with SERVICE in the dash display. I'd be interested if anyone has a solution for this, or whether it's going to have to go back to Renault to be fixed.

The most common cause of a fault in the air-bag system is usually a faulty connector under either the drivers or passenger seat - seems to happen on many models

The connector in question will be linked to the seatbelt pretensioner

Mine had the intermittent airbag light coming on my car about a year ago. Turned out to be a coupler on the steering column.

They found this out after re-wiring and cutting out the connectors under BOTH seats, coz thats where their diagnostics told them the fault was !

I think this was about 120 from Renault if memory serves me correctly.

I didnt pay for it in the end as the warranty company paid for it.
