Thanks for the reply. Do you mean actually attached to the bottom (in which case I can't see how that will hold it up as the glass) or do you mean on the side/corner so it has some grip on the downwards movement?

I have not used the door since (well just twice that day to test it but not since) - I am making the missus sit in the back :-)

I am avoiding pot holes as much as possible and driving a lot more carefully than I might normally to avoid jolting the car. I am also able to get a lift to work for several days so will be able to leave ot parked for most of the time until I get it repaired so hopefully it will stay put.

I know what you mean about pushing down on the glass, but I don't want to push my luck and make it fall :-)

I understand you want to be careful If you did need to take it out though I would have thought a couple of pieces of tape in the bottom corners would hold it: the compression of the downwards movement against the resistance of the tape would be strong enough I think - the window seal holds the window pretty well. But not driving it is safer still
