Thanks. I really want to avoid taking the door card off as I don't have the time or the skills (I know it's easy but I will probably break it). It is under warranty (Harmony extended) but I can't get it booked in or make it down for a few days.

The horrible grinding noise was made going down and then back up but it did go up (in small movements) so would you say that sounds like the "up" cable is still working - that and the fact that it seems firmly closed? I did try bouncing over pot holes after it happened to see if it would drop and it stayed firm.

The motor should be ok and the full reg replacement is def easier than the fix kit. Swapping the motor to the new reg make sure you don't lose tension on the winder as its a real pain to rethread - keep it all clamped at all times. If you go for the repair kit you need to get the lengths of the wires that are snapped right. I never worked out how this was supposed to be done...

The repair kit seems to be specific for the laguna 11 so im hoping that the lengths are pre cut. I've ordered one so i'll keep you posted, hopefully it will arrive for the weekend.
