Xenon blown?

I think one of my headlight bulbs have blown, they are xenon.
Is there a particular way to check if indeed the bulb has gone?
This is my 1st car with xenon headlamps so Im a bit lost, also if the bulb has gone can it just be replaced or does the whole unit need replacing.

Does anyone know where to get replacements? Im willing to bet that Renault will want a fortune.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there,

The only real way to tell if it is the bulb that has gone is to swap it to the other headlight.

Now comes the bad bit, the bulbs are expensive. If you was to buy one from Renault it would cost you near 100.

When one of my bulbs went (it was giving off a pink light and the output was way reduced) i got two 6000K bulbs from www.hids4u.co.uk for 60. You can also by a Philips OEM (same as what is in your car now) bulb for 70, but I bought the two for 60 as you dont know when the other one is going to give up the ghost.

I then got Renault to fit them at a price of 35. But that may of been my dealer being kind or unkind depending on how you look at it. By far the easiest way to fit Xenon bulbs yourself is to take the front bumper off and get the lights out that way. There is a thread on here somewhere on how to do that.

Also may be worth looking http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/home.php

Taking the bumper off is not as difficult as it sounds - otherwise beware the electric charge for xenons is very strong so you need to make sure its all completely discharged. Maybe check the headlamp washers when the bumpers off if yours are sticking.
