abs light staying on

wonder if someone can help my fathers 2002 laguna ide has a problem which started today and its the abs light it wont go out for some reason can anyone shed light on the problem cheers

It's indicating that there is a fault in the system somewhere,which will usually turn out to be a faulty wheel speed sensor.

To avoid guess work,I'd get a local independant garage with the right equipment to read the fault codes as this will point you the right direction.
Currently in Lagdti's garage:
2004 Saab 9-5 HOT Aero and a 2001 Audi A3 1.8 Turbo

same here

I have the very same problem, however I have noticed that depending on the road conditions it can be off for a significatnt time, then suddenly come on again, so Im guessing its something near the wheel, and plan on checking it all out tomorow. Have no idea what I will be looking for, but I figure a real good clean of the area that looks like it has wires is a good place to start
