Disconnecting the Battery

I'm a new member and have had a search round for my answer but couldn't find anything.

I have a 54 Clio Dynamique 1.2 and today the car wouldn't start. all the lights dim when I try to turn over. I suspect the Battery has died but I'm not sure. If I try to charge it the charger shows only 2 amps.

My main question is - if I buy a new battery what will need re-programming once the battery has been disconnected and re-connected?

Also has anybody had a Battery failure after only 3 and a bit years like me?

Hi modern day batteries work hard powering all the electrics on a modern car,so basicially it is a wear and tear item. You will need to enter the radio code and thats about it

What is the maximum output of the charger?

If the charger is maxed out at 2-3 amps then fair enough the battery may well be dead.

Alternatively if the charger is capable of an output of say 8 -10 amps, you may well have a problem elsewhere.

Maximum output of charger is 5 Amps, the battery is flat and I'm only getting 2 Amps on the dial. I've read somewhere that this indicates a faulty battery.

So I can replace the battery and the only thing I need to re-program is the radio. I asked because the handbook talks about other re-programming - whatever that is?

Would you agree?

My new battery has a 3 year gaurentee, So maybe thats the service life of them?
