I own a Laguna '94 which has lately failed to start on several occasions.
The dashboard immobiliser light stays on when I turn the key which prevents me from starting the car.
The dealer has swapped the old decoder ring on reading a decoder ring fault code from the computer unit.
However, this hasn't solved the problem. Furthermore, the wiring has been checked but nothing has been found so far.
When the light remains lit, it will not allow me to start whichever key I use.
Both keys do work however when I dont have this problem (both can operate central locking as well).
I did not check for the water leakage issue as I haven't had problems with central locking.
Around the time this problem has manifested, I also experienced some engine trouble:
- One occasion I had to rev up the engine after starting it, as it felt like dying on me
- Another occasion it took several attempts to start it.
Somehow I feel these symptoms correlate to the immobiliser problem, but I can't figure out yet how.
It hints at a faulty
sensor, however I would expect not to have a blinking dashboard immobiliser in such a case.
Anyone got an idea ?
