hello everyone,

i would love for anyone to help me out here,

i have a 2010 Renault grand scenic 1.5 diesel.

2 days ago the car just stopped working and it would not turn, i only get a click noise when pressing the start button.

the battery is full, the starter motor has been tested and it is working.

so it leaves the starter relay?! but where can i find it under the hood and which relay is it.??

i dont have a drawing that shows which relay/fuse is what under the hood. i have searched all over the internet and i even called Renault main dealer (two different branches) and they both had the same answer: WE DONT KNOW WHICH STARTER RELAY YOU WANT, DO YOU HAVE A PART NO?!!

i mean i dont know what is what, Renault should know this as i have given them my full car specification and reg and yet they dont know.

Please Please is there any one out there who knows where the starter relay is on a 2010 Grand Scenic 1.5 Diesel? Help!

Are you sure it has one, no mention of a starter relay that I can find.

Fuse box under the bonnet lid by the battery, take the cover/lid off
As you look at the fuses there is two at the bottom left of the fuse box, these are vertical as opposed to the other 4 that are horizontal, the white fuse of the two is the starter fuse
If you only see one and it is the second one in ,,, this is the one I mean , as the one before( fuse 18) is not fitted to all scenics

Would agree 100% , but it is more than likely incorporated in the fusebox, or uch, but there is not one listed in side the car , or under the bonnet as being a separate entity,

Have checked on all three wiring/fuse systems, that I have and all list the same just that fuse.

When you say you hear a click, is this from inside the car or under the bonnet . can you explain a bit more on how the starter and battery were tested,
Another daft question this might seem, but did this happen when driving, or you went to start the car, after it was left for a period of time.

for starters thank you both.

the car was starting and driving fine on the day of this issue. i was running errands with the car. i parked it and 1hr later i came back to start it, then this clicking noise started happening. it is really hard to tell as you can hear the clicking from the inside and the outside.

the battery is 1 month old from new, and the starter i tested it by jacking it where the car will start by by passing the starter relay.

the pics on ebay are exactly the same as mine but i am not sure which fuse is which... and that is soooooo annooying!

i really appriciate your feedbacks.

On your engine bay fusebox (upc) on connector 4 track black connector marked ppm1 track 3 on this is starter control. & then you have a 25a fuse marked marked fuse 9. On the fusebox marked n3 the starter relay is intergrated into the fusebox On the fusebox marked n2 the fusebox controls a external starter relay

yours will look something like this, follow the red (positive lead) from your battery and you will come to it, this is the view of the fuse box from underneath, you have to lift it up to get at the fuses, dont yank it up slowly lift it, as the loom also attaches to it,
if you need to buy a second hand fuse box, make sure the numbers match, then it is plug and play, no coding needed

Just wanted to say a big thank you for coming back & reporting the fix to the problem. Most people don't and its very annoying expecting others to help & not wanting to help other people.

I had the same problem where the garage changed the starter motor but were left scratching their back sides. I got them to check the white fuse 25a beside the battery & right enough it was blown

Hi, I seem to be having a similar issue on a 2010 Scenic. It started as an intermittent fault (click from front left of car on start attempt, no DTCs and no voltage at the starter) and is now a permanent fault. Is the fuse I’m looking for in this box:

or the one in front of it?

thanks.

I have now resolved the issue I was having by replacing the starter motor. The original voltage measurement I took at the starter was false as the meter wasn’t earthed properly. The was voltage at the starter, it just wasn’t turning. A replacement starter for £30 on eBay solved the proble.
