Key card problems

Hi all.

I have a feeling that this subject's probably been raised before, but here goes.......

I have a 53 reg Scenic, and one of the key cards has gone pear shaped. It'll start the car, but wont operate the central locking. There appears to be something loose inside, 'cause if you give it a shake you can hear something rattling around.

As I'm sure everyone's aware, these things cost an arm & a leg to buy new from a dealer. Second hand ones are pretty cheap to buy on e-bay, but I've heard that it's impossible to get pre-owned cards reprogrammed? I've also found a company on-line who'll repair 2 button Laguna cards, but wont touch the 3 button Scenic cards.

I'm starting to think that I'm on a hiding to nothing, but I thought I'd submit the post on the off chance that anyone knows of a solution..??

Sounds like one of the buttons has come adrift inside the card and the only way to repair it is to open it up. There is a post somewhere in the forum describing how - have a search for "keycard"
Just in case have you tried emailing Gary at the link below although I believe he is on holiday at present

Ahah - found it - see link below for post

Thanks for that mate, I'll have a go at opening the card & repairing it when I've got a bit of time - I've got nothing to lose seeing as it doesn't work anyway..!!

I've tried Gary at keycard repair. He'll only repair the 2 button Laguna keycards. For some reason, he wont touch the 3 button Scenic cards........don't know if this means that I wont be able to repair it myself..??
