Window Regulator Help Needed

Just suffered the common electric window regulator fault on my 2000 Renault Scenic. Took the door panel off to find the broken plastic clip and broken wire, as mentioned in the forums. Would never normally tackle something like this, but getting married next month, so need to save every penny I can, so a garage repair is out.

Found lots of advice on sourcing replacement parts on ebay , which I plan to do, but got a few queries.
  • Can anyone post instructions on refitting, preferably with photos? Lots of people have said they will do this, but i've not been able to find anyone that has actually done it.
  • Do window regulators come with the plastic clip thing? Having looked at all the pics on ebay , I can't see it. No one has mentioned this on the forums, so presumably I'm wrong.
  • Some people have mentioned that the electronic fittings on the replacement parts don't sometimes match those on the Renault, resulting in the need for wire stripping and the like. Does anyone know of a supplier that supplies parts that fit without the need for such alterations? I know many of you will say it's really easy, but it's way beyond my own technical abilities.
  • And finally, bit cheeky, but can anyone offer me a hand? As I said, it's not something I'd normally tackle, so know i'm going to have problems. Not asking for anyone to fit it particularly (although wouldn't stand in your way if you'd do it cheaply enough), am more after someone being on hand to give tips on refitting and tell me when i'm putting it in back to front or something. I live near Chesterfield in Derbyshire.

which plastic bit has brocken?

when mine went it was the white bit at the top of the window guide.

but your best bet it to try your local scrappers, got the whole mechanism for 20 (motor, cables, window guide...), they are about 70 on Ebay ,

if you take it out your self, do NOT alter the cables, they are under rather a lot of tension, so it would be hard to re-attach them.

but if you do remove it, you will be able to understand how it comes out, just make sure that you remove all the parts that are to do with the window.

oh and theres a single plastic clip, that secures the window to the guide runner, keep that, incase one breakes

Sounds like the same clip you mention (well it was white).

The wire/cable has snapped, so no hope in getting it out still under tension. Makes me think that this is going to be an even bigger job than I thought.
