window problem warranty cover?

My Megane dynamic was registered at June 2004. I had my left front window stop working a year ago (window stopped in the middle while coming down) and was fixed by warranty. And the right window had similar problem half of a year later (Feb 2008) and was somehow fixed under warranty. I am having the same problem with my left window a week ago (July 2008) and was "fixed " by the garage. This is followed by the right window 2 days ago (22 July 2008). I think that it is a known fault but was not fixed properly. Even the newly fixed left window does not respond well when I press--- it does not go up without keeping the finger pressing on. Now I perhaps need to pay a lot of money to fix it. Can someone advise ways if this is still under warranty? Can I argue that this is a known fault? Otherwaise, where to go to fix it other than the renault dealer. I live in Wokingham.

Welcome to the forum.

There are indeed known problems with these windows, and although I don't have any experience with them myself, quite a few other members have reported problems.

I think a call to RCS would be in order and see what they say.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Hi there.

I used to be a manager within Ford's Customer Relationship Centre, and we dealt specifically with items which were not covered by the vehicle warranty.

If a part fails within the warranty period, and is replaced - it doesn't come with the full part warranty it would have if it had been purchased (weird, I know), it is only covered for the remainder of the vehicle warranty.

If Ford's interpretation of warranty is the same as Renault's, then you may not have warranty protection if it is the same items which have failed.

But don't despair - RCS should still apply a goodwill payment (as we would've), known faults, a history of concerns, and a full service history, will all help to support a contribution. It may not be 100%, but even that isn't a total negative, as you will receive a full parts & labour warranty on the offending items.

Hope that helps to unmuddy the waters, and best of luck in your claim.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Yep Renault operate the same policy as Ford.

Always worth contacting Renault Customer services first as they will not pay for any work carried out by any workshop other than Renault dealerships.

Persevere with them they are not difficult to deal with
