Hi all
I have been sent a new handbrake module from a company that failed to repair my old unit .
I have been assured that it is a genuine Renault part but when fitted to the car my electrician who has all the programming software cannot get the car to communicate with the unit .He tells me that all the systems on the car are good but the new unit will not power up when connected
Wondered if anybody has had this problem and is it main dealer only that will have equipment to boot it up?

Can you ask your mechanic to check power is actually going to the unit.
If a broken wire, then no chance.
Can we ask, is everything else working ok, could have a fuse gone, and it is stopping him getting comms with EPB

Hi thanks for reply
He has got power and everything is working on the car to communicate with unit he assures me
This is why he thinks there is some software required by Renault even do he has changed lots of Scenic units without any issues or need for main dealership involvement as he has all the programs to do the work except for this !

Any chance you could say/show me where the 2 fuses are please? I checked all the under bonnet fuses and STOP fuse behind driver door...
Mine is laguna 2 hatchback 55 plate.

I can't move the car at moment. Car starts with clutch or brake pressed but when accelerating epb does not release.

I have lost power to the dash "handbrake" handle.
I finally found the emergency yellow handle under rubber bottom cover in the centre console... Well hidden.
Car on safety props, Wheels off but can't disengage the brake cables...
Not happy to climb under car yet... will check for power to connector under rear seat.

Many thanks
Nev

So much easier with that info..
fuse 4 fuse 11 interior fusebox..
Fuse 23 under the bonnet..
Now trying to explain where they are..LOL
If left hand head light is working, ignore fuse 4
Fuse 11 engine management sign, so if card reader working, not that fuse.
Under bonnet fusebox, One row of large fuses,( top row)no small fuses in this row, First one from the left, should be a 60 amp..
Check this... If its blown, you have a major short, dont refit a new one come back on, will see where the loom runs around your car for you to check

On entering car I now do have power to the handbrake button. Flashes for short while.

Fuse 4 ok. Tested ok. Left hand headlamp is fine but Left hand sidelight isn't working ... need new bulb.
Fuse 11 - card reader defo ok.
Fuse 21 - ok yesterday.

Battery very low... will charge again. Recent short journeys and starting without runs... but may be source of problem. Not enough umf to brake motor.

Is there a sensor for brake to do with accelerator?

Apply handbrake showing as I leave the car... Although solidly on.

Charging battery now... Thx again.

No, no relay, back seat out, by your fuel sender unit a large multiplug,
Check you have power at A1, this comes straight from engine bay fuse box
One of the three rows of wires/pins inside multi plug, two outer pins. one of these is A1,, will become self evident when separated,

From what i've read about EPB is you need renault can clip to reset where the clutch sensor bites and or throttle pressed to allow EPB to release, if using any other EPB bar your own repaired unit (either s/h or new) - vin number is a once only write to unit and a mismatch doesnt stop EPB working, also have to match up trim levels, gearbox type etc hope this info helps.

I have found the ehb connector with the fuel sender sensor under the rear drivers side seat... flat screw drive to pull up cover.
Good news I found 12V on the red wire... unfortunately, I didn't need to break the block as the wire was already very corroded and I was able to measure 12v to ground from the green copper... yuk!
I have released the block from the cover, split the connector block and will solder and sink seal the break...
I read something like this somewhere... dodgy wires but after 12 years in a clamp... probably could be expected.
Will follow up after Valentines/Anniversary lunch!
Many thanks to all. Nev

Fixed... added a piece of wire to ensure no extra stress on the wires... soldered and covered.
Engine start. Parking brake... via handle worked... ON and OFF. Motor whiring sounds... hurray! Emergency pull cord pulled back in fully by motor running.
Will put cable holding bolts back in place, refit wheels and remove stands and chocks b4 trying to drive off tomoz pm.

Many thanks for all your help.

App on tinternet for the first.
Second one send the windows down, will only travel a few inches at a time once down hold button for 10 seconds, then lift up to the top and do the same.
Do all four windows.
Once done send all windows back down. Get out the car and double lock the car with keycard, and hold finger on the lock button. Check all windows will close

Windows reset - drop down inch by inch... hold down button 10 seconds on each then up... lock car... worked fine using key to close.
Radio code - tools to pull radio ordered... app downloaded to calculate code from bar code on radio.
(Find free Renault dealer is plan B)
Thx again.
