Lol mine is hard to put on incorrectly too

Thats really the only tip I have. I'm sure later someone like Lagdti will be along who might be able to give you some far better pointers..

I suspect it's more of a fault with either the dash panel or the wiring loom near the ECU .The loom is protected by a metal box.....this box then comes loose and chaffs through the wires causing allsorts of strange things to happen.

You say that the car sounded quite rough?.Do you think it was misfiring?.If so you may have an intermittant coil problem,and it has been known for these to casue electrical problems elsewhere if they are faulty,but I'd check the wiring loom under the bonnet and go from there.

It would be worth checking the earth connections between the battery,body and engine too.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
