Hi guys
I need some help bought a 1.9 petrol 2003, I did not use it for a few days and when I did it would not start I do not remember whether the battery was just totally flat or whether I just saw the low battery warning and just went ahead and put another battery on.
But the situation is this with a good battery was connected you enter the car and you are confronted with the immobiliser light flashing, you put the key / fob in the ignition and press the start button, you are then confronted with the messages low battery , parking brake fault, low oil pressure, service and park warning light on the stop oil and break light on the immobiliser light on constantly and what sounds like the engine fan running, the central locking seems ok.
I have read many threads on this and have checked the positive terminal fuses, cleaned the negative terminals, removed cleaned and checked for water ingress on the fuse board.
The last thing I did was check for current draw and using my multimeter found it was going off scale which means it must be pulling more than ten amps ? Not good.
I have just read that a large drain can be caused by a faulty alternator is that right ?
I am getting really frustrated now as I haven't used it I have only drove it back from buying it.
Does anyone have any ideas it would be much appreciated
Disconnect the thick red wire off the back of the alternator.
Wrap insulation tape/plastic bag over it, see if the drain stops.
Is there any sign of water inside the car, passengers side.
If you put your hand up under the glove box, feel the carpet.
I have tried to no avail but I decided to check the other leads and I found that the main supply to the fuse box was drawing nearly 3 amps.
I must have read something wrong before.
And after removing the fuse box found that by removing the second fuse back the page 70amp fuse, which is the first one in the row behind the front 40amp one.
The only thing is what does that fuse supply I cannot find a diagram.
Thanks guys
As daft as this might seem, will need a picture, with your fuse in situ.
Unless you want to post your oval plate, but only show the first 9 characters of your vin, paint over the last 8.
(DO NOT post all 17 characters/letters of your vin)
Hi thanks for your replies yes it is a 2ltr I actually am an idiot some times I had looked at and bid on so many I did not even realise I had bought a two litre I afraid that's what me does to you,
Can you guys help me with finding the engine code, will I have to start delving round the engine.
Health wealth and happiness Nigel

Hi thanks but does this mean that the fuse at the front on its own is not designated a number and the one I am looking at is no one,
Or is it no two,
I can see a connection as the fan seams to run as soon as I turn on the ignition, if it is fuse two assuming they are numbered front to back this is not very helpful as it says not used on diesels but is it used on petrol models and if so for what?
Also it would be very helpful if some one can tell me if the fuse feeds anything else apart from the fan and if anyone can point me in the direction of a wiring diagram or schematic.
Thank you very much for your time and help.
Hi I'm not always the brightest bulb in the box but I am going to attempt to upload some pictures
I don't know if that worked but it is not the one in the orange holder but the one nearest it after the gap the 70amp
Cheers
Yes
Just came from the she devil and have now traced the parasitic drain to a fuse in the glove box that I left out and tried the car but it is no difference from day one.
Just going to check what it feeds ?
Right just found out that means clock / radio.
I have also read on the forum that this can be a faulty dash board ?
But I am hoping it's something to do with the radio as the guy I bought it from just fitted it before I bought it
I am now thinking I might have more than one problem ?
After all of my reading I think I am looking at, radio or dash problem, Ecu, or a broken wire. To check for a wiring problem I need a diagram but I can't find one apparently the Haynes books don't do my model
