I seen that Fifth gear episode. It took the AA man 30 minutes or something to change it. And he knew what he was doing, ha. It is really shocking that it is designed this way.

Well done on undertaking what should be a routine bit of maintenance, however, it is worth bearing in mind that not all people are up to facing a 2 hour job, and having had to suffer the indignity of seeking help, calling them 'losers' (:loser: your smiley), is merely rubbing salt into a wound.

I would always advise any member who doesn't feel confident enough to tackle a job like this to shop around local auto electricians, who will be far less expensive.

You probably didn't intend any offence, all I'm doing is explaining how some may view your post.

Its only meant as a joke, we are all losers with this stupid French design, those who pay for it and those who spend 2 hours getting there hands scratched to pieces.
I bet the French versions arent like this, its there way ok getting back at us English!!!
Ther are some references to Halfords fitting them for 2.99, think they probably have a claus for Renaults though.

Don't worry, I understood what you were saying (I hope you gathered that from the tone of my original reply) - its just that those who have paid that sum of money wouldn't be quite so understanding.

It is poor design, what I recall was once termed 'built-in obsolescence' and there's really no excuse for that.

If its any consolation, I have xenons on my car - and that's by no means a diy fix if it goes pear-shaped!

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

I have a clio III took me a while to change the dipped bulb in it, apparently the Modus one's are even worse.

Its not just renault...... My g/f's parents had a polo GTI 235 for a fog lamp replacement, apparently the front bumper had to be loosenend to get to it
