Renault Megane II - Battery discharging

I have just bought a megane, first reg june 05. This is my first time with a keyless model. If if i leave the car for more than a couple of days i need to jump it for it to start. Once it as jump started then I only need to go a mile or so and it will imediately start again no problem. Have I bought a pup or is it just the battery needs changing ? All guesses welcome.

Regards Graeme.

PS Sorry for putting in this in the wrong thread
Currently in graemecunn's garage:

It could be a duff battery or there could be a drain on it.

Most battery retailers will perform a dump test free of charge in the hope of a sale. I would suggest you start there

Oh and welcome to the forums

If your car was stood on the garage forecort for awhile the battery might have gone flat, this can destroy modern batteries.

The garage probably kept charging it for customers to do test drives, they will do anything to save their profits.

When i got my Laguna I needed a new battery a couple of weeks later.

A problem well stated is a problem half solved !

Welcome to the Forums Graeme

I would agree with the above post's.

Something worth checking, Megane & Scenic II's can suffer from a poorly fitted glove box lid resulting in the light been on continously, To check for this the light will be hot on opening the lid.

Worth asking the dealer you bought the car from to test/check the battery

Keep us posted on how how you get on
