Hmm, I disagree to the extent that no method of disabling the immobiliser is going to be quick and easy, it's why they're heavily epoxied in the top of the fuel pumps on the old diesels.

Yes, they are a security device, but they're not infallible, and the likelihood is that any competent car thief already knows a lot more than us about disabling them... And solving problems with the immobiliser system as opposed to simply bypassing it may be very costly and simply not worth it on an older car - there's plenty of things you might call a grey area - are we going to stop giving advice on working on the brakes 'cause anybody who doesn't already know what they're doing is potentially endangering their life by working on them if they get it wrong? I'd say a life, or even several lives are worth a hell of a lot more than any car you can present me with. In fact, are we going to stop giving advice on all car repairs because it put the job security of Renault technicians at risk? :p

If the immobiliser on mine gave me any issues I'd not hesitate for a moment to destroy the bloody thing and wire the fuel stop solenoid straight in, but as I said in another thread I'm sure it's not so easy on newer/petrol cars...

Is it possible to use the code generation method of bypassing the immobiliser on a car with the RF system, or was that exclusive to the IR system?

That said, there are sensible steps you can take with regard to diagnosing the immo system... Though with the RF system I'd have no idea where to start 'cause I can't see any reason why the Immobiliser and Central Locking systems would be intertwined as they are on an IR car. Perhaps the decoder ring in the ignition barrel is kaput, or the transponder in the key is faulty?

I don't make a fuss.......

This is the second time this has come up recently. The previous time you posted a method to disable an immobiliser despite my comment in the post above it. On that occasion, I quietly removed it

Yeah, well the sarcastic rolleyes doesn't really help you make a case for not having an issue with me personally.

I wondered where that had gone.
I'm not going to argue with you because I have nothing to add beyond what I've said above. If you honestly think a would-be opportunist car thief is going to spend half an hour doing that, then so be it, delete my post, but I really doubt it's a huge security issue.

It's not the moderator having a problem with what I've posted I have an issue with, if he wants to delete my post he's welcome to do so. I had no idea that talking about car security systems was a taboo here, only radio codes. The bba-reman method of bypassing the immobiliser on IR cars has been posted here by others in the past, as has the method of physically removing the immobiliser - and nobody's taken objection with it.

What I have an issue with is the snide, personal remark. As I've said before, something very bizarre has happened to the friendly vibes that were so prevalent in this forum when I first joined.

Hi - Irish. I appreciate your position but you have to remember this forum is run purely by volunteers who give their time and advice for free. Also remember many have job and family commitments. This forum has no official connection or dealings with the Renault Company or any of its agents.
Whilst we would like to assist we also have a responsibility to ensure that any discussioins do not put the forum in jeopardy regarding the law or the possibilty of legal action. Such actions would endanger the running of the forum for numerous reasons therefore the moderators and administrators need to be careful.
I am sure there may be organisations who may be able to help you bypass your immobiliser but I am fairly sure they would insist on you providing relevant security documentation and this forum doesn't have that facility.
Have you tried contacting an official Renault dealer for advice or tried a Google search:)
