Slow top Speed

Please help,I own a Scenic 2.0 16V privilige + 2002 on 51plate.
Auto box fine acceleration and normal running well fine.
Happy with mpg.
BUT it wont go above 80mpg feels as though plenty of power but just wont go over 80mph.
Are there any electrics which could limit speed or something else causing this?
I used to top the Ton with my 2000 RXE diesel. And this car is supposed to have 140bhp.
It is not an import has no signs of faults from OBD2 scan.
All warning lights work correctly and do not show when driving. Can it be an Ecu problem and could Renault really re set/program my ecu ?
Dreading to think what it will cost and how it could happen.
Hope someone can help before the dreaded dealership.

It's an odd one, I highly doubt its being limited unless it was in limp mode, But this would bring up a warning light.

Maybe seek the opinion of an autobox specialist before a main delaer as most main dealers outsource autobox work in my experience.

Hello Tigerz_SRi, thanks for the reply after consulting all the manuals I can find and the experts on line,it all points to what you say.Only thing why dont lights come on?
Thanks for your suggestion on autobox ,will find one and ask question.
Personally I think it must be ECU as autobox performs quite normally and is already in 4th gear (Top) when acceleerating.
All the best John
