Megane 2 abs, heater & window faults

Hi all,

Glad I found this forum, previous cars I have had are Clio's and Golf's but thought I would have a change this time, regretting it already....

Have a few problems with my Megane 1.5 DCI Extreme 2006 5DR

ABS Light is on, speedo always shows 0mph but rev counter works. I have had it plugged into diagnostics at two garages I regularly use and neither could find the fault listed. The second garage has said the reader could not even detect anything to do with the ABS system. Any ideas on what this could be? Garage tends to think it is more than just the hub sensors due to the fact the system can not be found, they think a replacement module might be required or something wrong in the fuse box.

Electrical windows on the front & rear passenger side also do not function, I have found a repair kit online, does anyone have past experience with these and if they actually work? - http://www.renaultwindow.co.uk/chooseminicubeortemic.html? also I am assumeing I would need two of these, one for front & back. Checked the switches and they all work fine however you can not even hear a motor click on the passenger side ones that are faulty.

Heater blowers do not work, any setting put on they do not blow air out, again I have found a website selling replacement parts, would it be best to get the complete upgrade and loom kit as a replacement? http://www.heaterblowerresistor.co.uk/renaultmegane2heaterresistor.html

Also is there any way to clear the "Electrical Fault" message that displays on the dashboard, I cant see any mileage information or anything else other than " Oil level ok" when starting the car, the rest gets covered by the error.

Had a coil spring snap the top off too on my way from picking up the car, knew it would be a great start.... at least thats a simple fix :-)

Thanks for any help, will hang around the forums as im sure I will do some other work to the car once I fix the initial problems :-)

Kerry

Re: Megane 2 abs, heater & window faults

So abs, heater and windows, anything else not working.Ignore lights on the dash.. at this point..

Open the Glove box, inside As you look at it three large fuses, top one is heater. Make sure there is power here, and check the fuse
Middle column, 5th and 6th fuse down, check these, make sure there is power also on one side of the fuse connector
Abs fuse middle row, top fuse
Abs fuse, under bonnet fuse box, by the side of the battery , black cover over this.
Its Battery off, top waterproof cover off, Nut, holding power supply from the battery, this undone, carefully, and I do mean carefully maneuver the fuse box out...
One row of fuses on their own, Fuse 1, this being closest to the side of the fusebox..
Check internal fuses first, before going under the bonnet
once under bonnet fuse box is out, check the very large fuses,, 5th one from the battery/power lead connection end.

Ah thanks for the help, now I know the locations of them all I will give it a check over. Hopefully something simple that's cut power to the abs.

Everything else seems to work thankfully! I can live without the passenger windows but the ABS and heaters would be a royal nightmare.

Check you have power at one side of the connector when the fuse is removed....
Not much point having a good fuse but no power to pass through it.....

ABS issue fixed, fuse had gone. Swapped out and speedo came back to life, thankfully sensors were all good and it was a cheap fix!

Still haven't got around to the windows yet but heaters were sorted out with a new thermal fuse and the wiring upgrade.

Thanks for the help, Kerry
