2000 1.6 Alize Key Fob Problem

Hi, new to this forum stuff so please be patient.

I've got a W plate 2000 laguna 1.6 Alize which used to have two remote keys (not cards). I've since lost one of the keys(I'm blaming the kids) and the key I'm still using has decided it doesn't want to open the doors remotely anymore, luckily the car still starts fine. I've tried the suggestions posted about holding down the central locking switch for so many seconds etc. but still no joy! The key worked fine a couple of days ago and I've stuck in some new batteries just in case,so I haven't got a clue. I've phoned around to get prices for a new key and that recoded along with my current key but the cheapest quote I've had is 185!!
Any suggestions will be more than welcome.
I just don't want to get ripped off by the garage for what will probably take them 10 mins to do once they've got a new key.
Thanks- In advance.

Hi Greenspeedtriple

Sorry you have not had a reply to your post yet hopefully a Member who is familiar with your model will offer some advice.

Have a read through the Laguna FAQ's they can be found under the blue articles tab or use the Forums search facility input - Key fob or Keyfob

It could be one of the micro-switches inside the key fob have broken or one of the internal solder joints have gone duff. For instance does it rattle when shaken.
