Hah, funnily enough as both Infinity and JBL are Harman brands, I've technically got a single-manufacturer set up

Infinity REF6010cs components in the front, JBL GTO 427s in the back, and a pair of JBL 10" subs, one in each of the boot cubby holes in the Lag.

Obviously it's not perfect as the subs don't really have big enough 'cabinets' but it sounds great with a bit of trimming on the amp.

6 x 9 speakers for bass

i agree, go for quality though, cheap speakers will disapoint you, personally i like Alpine, but pioneer, kenwood are okay, i dont like sony, they are for the youth market, remember, speakers deliver the sound, no matter how good the amp is, its the speakers that deliver the quality sound. other brands are Eclipse, bose, earthquake toname a few. i have phoenix gold, but they are not cheap, to get good sound the head unit needs to pump out at least 20 watts rms per channell, especialy good bass, but i know people who are quite happy with around 15 watts, and if you have them in the rear pcl shelf, be wary of over bass caused by resonance
