Hello. I had my old battery replaced in my 2004 renault kangoo. The new battery runs the starter motor but engine doesn't start. There is no spark in the spark plucks. What can be the reason for this? - Dorothy

ours2012 is the real expert on electrics and I am sure he will respond but first... was the battery changed by the garage? Could any wiring close to the battery have been damaged during replacement? Second, are you able to check that all the main connections and fuses are still OK? This also means the large fuses close to the +ve battery terminal if fitted. Thirdly, is everything else working OK... all dashboard lights, radio, lights etc. Fourth, are you sure there is no spark (I presume you have had the plugs out). Finally we will need more details of the car (engine type etc). We will get there eventually but I am currently working on the theory that the battery replacement caused the problem. This of course might not be the case.

I apologize for the delayed response. I managed to get the car working. Now to answer your qestions: Q1-A1) No, the battery wasn't replaced by the garage; but by me. Wiring wasn't damage before, during and after replacing the battery. Q2-A2) Fuses and main connections were not damaged and all were working. Large fuses close to the +ve terminal (of the battery) were fitted correctly, not damaged and working. Q3-A3) Dashboard lights, lights, wipers, radio, etc.; all working. Q4-A4) Yes, there was no spark. Starter motor turned engine but there was no spark on the spark plugs. Yes, all the plugs were out. Q5-A5) Engine: 1.4 L. Engine type: K7J. Engine capacity: 1390cc.
Solution: After fitting the battery, checked if everything was working; the remote control unit on the car key (pressed this many times), engine immobiliser light, lights, wipers, hazards, indicators, etc. Everything seemed to work. Turned the key in the ignition and the engine started with no problems! I've taken the car for test drives, so far so good.
Thank you for your concern, time, patience and wellness to help! I would buy you a beer, but because of the distance I'm sending you this...***127866;!***127867;!!

Not showing a fuel (inertia) switch cut off,,
Being Renault, have a few different layouts of relays and fuses...
So with out a picture of the fusebox and relay plate, cannot say which relay is for the fuelpump to check.
Any chance of a couple of photos of your fusebox and relay box.......
Battery can only fit in one way??, no one has put it in wrong first, then realised and turned it back,,, Just asking, as it does happen, ...

Not sure but there wont be any fuel so the ecu may cut the spark
that's a point can the op hear the fuel pump priming at switch on,

You could try removing the battery earth again go have a brew to
let things discharge then with the side lights turned to on reconnect
the earth lead this will force a reset and sometimes works, make sure
you have the radio codes and leave a window or door open so you
get yourself locked out. Though if your radio is working now you must
have this or its not coded, the electric drivers window will likely need a reset
