Battery drain

I know this has been discussed before, my brandfire new Yuasa battery has been drained overnight for the second time, ammeter across battery shows minimal 0.2 amps, on tickover battery voltage is showing 14.5V +, the radio is out and display does not show time or temp, I've read on other forums and on here that it may be the ' camshaft position sensor ' ? This seems like an urban myth or coincidence but seems like it may be true, I'm experiencing a lot of electrical problems with this car and can sense a big bill coming along real soon, can anyone confirm that the cam position sensor fixed their battery drain problem ....

Re: Battery drain

0.2 amp battery drain is VERY much! The easiest possibility to find this is to use the elimination method

Fit the multimeter so you can watch it all the time and remove one fuse after the other.

I have not heard about cam sensor draining battery before.. usually radio or ecu in my experience. Be sure that there is no lamps like trunk or glovebox that could be lit.

Re: Battery drain

No it isn't an urban myth. But I've only read of it occuring on VVT PETROL engines.
200mA does seem quite a lot. IMHO 50mA should be nearer the mark.
However 0.2A would take approx 125 Hours to Half flatten your battery.
Summat else I think.

Re: Battery drain

Thanks guys and yes you're right Notty it was only petrol engines I read about, however that doesn't mean it won't happen to diesel versions, it's a P0340 by all accounts, good description here and there again it doesn't say only petrol ? ....... https://autoservicecosts.com/obd2-codes/p0340/
