hi,for 3 years ive had to use the old technique of holding in the button on the fob to disable the immobiliser on my 2001 clio. suddenly it has gone dead.replaced battery.soldered the button on circuit board more securely.still dead.the red led doesnt light.ive run a wire between the connections on either side of the button, whilst pressing against the battery.still nothing (on the spare it will light up),so its not the button.im at a loss. the spare key has never disabled the immobiliser .tho it sends the signal for the central locking it has resisted ALL techniques to re sync.the receiver sensor in the ignition must be ok ,as the main key worked fine til yesterday and its the key thats stopped emitting a signal, as no led lighting up. im thinking of one of those £80 immobiliser bypass plug ins, that go in the diagnostic socket under the ashtray.has anyone tried one? much appreciate any advice.rad

hi

how come you ain't got the other key fixed in 3 years ? !

Forget bypassing the immobilizer system
a) its against the rules to even ask how to bypass security features & anyone advising you would also get banned !
b) when you advise your insurance company that you've done that, they may decline to insure the car or seriously increase the premiums as the car can easily be stolen

go to your dealer and get new keys (x2), the code number will be in the original dealer service book , probably cost less than £150 ish.

It's worth asking, got a fancy driveway ornament otherwise.

Also worth googling/yellow pages for local autolocksmiths.
They may be able to lift the code and code a new pair of keys.
Or even code the spare ?

Note the common theme about pairs of keys/spare keys that work.
Expensive lesson to learn that keys break and that the spare only works if you have one.

Hi

'old girl' is now 58 years old and my parts suppliers are very keen to help me keep her on the road, and will go to great lengths to get parts to me next day when needed.
