cooling fan switch on dash

hi, the fan on my scenic 1, only works on position 6. i took the panel out, and dismantled the switch, thinking it was a rehostat type, couldnt see anything wrong, cleaned the circuit board, and tensioned the contacts a little, but it still only works on 6, which is full on, any one got any idea how i can get the fan to circulate cold air on other positions, thanks in advance, its got air con if that means anything
