Unhappy drive by wire?

Hi, I have recently bought a 1999 Scenic tdi, after a few weeks the immobiliser lit up on the dash. I took it to a reliable auto electrician who says I need an electronic throttle pedal. He has tried to order the part from Renault, but apparently this part was fitted only for a few months then it was changed to something else. Does anyone know if the part is available anywhere or can offer another solution. Such as if a recon engine was fitted would I still need the same part? Any help appreciated. Thanks

If you cant find one, some one that fixes radios
or other electronic equipment may be able to
fix it I would think it's just a variable resistance
and not much more, so if you can find the right
man it may be a cheap fix.

Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?

If you find a fix for your problem please let us know it will help others.

I'd be inclined to get a second opinion. While Renault are far from perfect, I find it hard to believe they'd discontinue an important part for one of their models without introducing a compatible upgrade or replacement. The car may be ten years old now, but they'd have been under an obligation to support it with spares for at least the first five.

Have you tried speaking to a dealer directly? Generally speaking, if you give them the registration and a description of the part, they'll be able to get one for you. You're under no obligation to buy - you can be cheeky and just ask for the part number if you prefer to shop around.
