Question Scenic rt 2000/x sunroof problem

Hi there, I just got the above car from an auction today and its in excellent condition throughout except that there seems to be a problem with the front sunroof. When I press the switch,I believe that the motor turns (allen key hole spinning) but the sunroof doesnt budge. I read earlier posts which advised manually turning the motor with 4mm Allen key but although it spins when switch is presssed I cant move it manually. The rear sunroof works fine. Has anyone got any idea what the problem could be and how to fix it ??

Red face Is this sunroom in one piece ??

Hi all, me again.. I have taken off the light console cover to try ang fix this wee problem again but didnt get very far :loser: I noticed that there was only 1 bolt holding the motor onto the roof therefore I guess someone has been at this before me. I tried to push and hold the rotor drive up into the cogs and press the button. Once again the motor is turning but the sunroof stays put. Could the drives on the sunroof itself be knackered ? How can I try to turn them manually ? Im thinking it would be ideal If I had a rod with a cog the same size as the one on the electric drive that i could stick in and try to turn, that way I would see whats happening. Anyone got something suitable ? My next question is.. Is this twin sunroof one whole unit or is it split ? The reason Im confused is I have seen ads for a front sunroof and for a rear sunroof on ebay as well as a complete combined unit. Please help !!

If your roof is anything like the one my Clio had it could be a few things. It is possible that the control rods along the side of the roof have seized through lack of lube, this in turn will cause the motor to stop or spin to no effect.
Remove the motor unit and operate to see if it spins ok and check the helix on the end.
With the motor removed try to move the glass by pushing up and back, it should move fairly easily. If not you need to get some lube in at the 4 corners and along the sides.

Can sunroof really be moved by pushing?

Thanks Chris,
Im not sure if its the same set up as your clio. I took the motor/drive off but could not move the sunroof by hand. Tried pushing upward and also tried to slide it back but didnt budge. I will spray WD40 tomorrow to see if that makes any difference. Has anyone managed to do manually push this open on this model ?
Also how can you tell if the drive is worn ?
