Automatic Lighting Light Level

Is there any way to program/adjust/set the light level that triggers the automatic lighting system on a Laguna 2 (54 plate). The system is virtually useless to me as I feel it is way past the time I would be turning on light manually before the automatic system activates. In times of dark/wet/rainy weather they very rarely come on despite is being necessary.

Our 53 plate Scenic also has the automatic lights and they come on much earlier.

Can this be done at home or is the only option to stick a bit of sunglass lens over the sensor so the ambient light level is reduced and the system gets tricked into thinking it is darker than it is

Hi Zog

As far as I'm aware the auto light function cannot be adjusted even by the Renault workshops

I think the sensor is behind the rear view mirror , maybe a clean would make a difference?

There is no sensitivity adjustment for the light sensor.

Does the auto wiper function work ok? If not it could be that the sensor is faulty or even if there is an air bubble where the sensor doesn'tsit tight to the windscreen - it can affect its operation.

Has the windscreen been replaced recently? The sensor is a combined light/moisture sensor. If so the fitters may have damaged the sensor or not re-fitted it correctly. Although most reputable fitters fit new sensors as a matter of course when they change the windscreens.
