Location of my ECU ?

Can anybody tell me the location of my ECU ?

I currently own a 1998(T) Laguna 2.0 rti 16v.

The immobiliser was playing up a few months ago, turned out to be the pick up coil around the ignition barrel.

However, 4/5 months on looks as thou ECU needs bypassing.

Thanks in advance Sorel3ellend:

PS Has anybody used a Renault Immobiliser by-pass dongle?

Currently in sorel3ellend's garage:
1999 laguna 2 rti

It's in the driver's footwell (RHD models) and is clipped up behind the dash on the right hand side. Should be a black box with a black and a blue connector. No use trying to fault find without proper wiring diagrams as these work with many wires. First check the receiver unit in the roof (if yours is an infra red type) as the aerial can leak onto it - very common. If RF(Radio Frequency) type (i.e. the plip key has no little transmitter "eye") then you need Renault XR25 or Clip to diagnose. Even with a new Immobiliser unit you would need matching keys, and even then have to take it to a dealer to code.

Not sure about bypassing, not possible to do with wires alone as the injection computer has a coded line from the imm ecu which cannot be copied.

Have spent a week on a real nightmare Laguna in the past with an immobiliser problem with the right diagnostic kit (as above) so it's not worth the time trying to fix it without.
