Renault Clio II - Airbags

My sister was involved in an accident last week in the very early morning on a hill crest, she was stationary at the time as she pulled over to let someone go past but the other person didn't see her and hit her car.

For some reason the Airbag didn't go off, would that be because she was not moving? or was not hit hard enough?

Airbags have sensors on the car to tell them whether to deploy or not. It's possible that her particular impact didn't pass any pressure to the sensors and therefore they didn't deploy.

I hope she wasn't badly injured. We had a member from New Zealand who ran off of the road and rolled down a 200 foot slope which wrote off the car - yet the air bags didn't activate.

Was it a rear end shunt?
