Just a thought, but are you sure you're hooking up the two supply wires, and not one of the supplies along with the display dimming input (which should be hooked up to the side lights circuit)?

The last time I wired a Sony unit, I'm pretty sure it followed the traditional Japanese stereo colour codes - i.e. yellow and red are your two power feeds (though I forget which is ignition and which is permanent live.) If you hook both of these up to permanent live then you shouldn't lose the memory. That is, of course, assuming that I recall the Sony wiring correctly and they haven't changed it since.

Yeah the red wire is the permanant live wire. I have hooked both the yellow and red power wires in the back of the cd player up to the permanent live wire of the car if thats what you mean?

It does keep the memory for about 10 mins but if i leave it any longer than that it forgets everything.

Going off my knowledge of Sony units, the blue wire is for the lights. (But there again, it could be for the electric aerial.)

The three beeps are to remind you to take off the face-plate.
