If it's what I think it is it is a relay that switches off
the car rear high intensity red lights the ones used
in bad vis, when a trailer is connected it senses the
load and switches the car ones off and leaves the
trailer ones on, they can chatter a bit if the volts
drop so if that is indeed what it is it's most likely
nothing to worry about.
It will be a plastic box with wires behind the carpet
stuck or screwed to the rear inner wing, u may be
able to feel it through the carpet.
Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?
