best place to buy new window regulator

hey folks

my window suddenly decided it wasnt going up on friday night drivers side front window, took it to my local dealer who got the window back up but told me i needed a new regulator,he told me that the regulator its self was ok(not the greeen clip problem) but the motor,he got the wido to go up by,taking out the fuse ,replacing it,lovking the car,the window woul go up about 2 inches and just kept reapeating this until it closed,he didnt take the door card off and said he knew it was the motor as it was doing this,i then got a quote for 282 quid for a new regulator fitted.

.a couple of questions.

where is the best place to buy a regulator, and also how difficult a job is it to remove door card ,old regulator and replace it,i am a joiner to trade and now fit sat dishes so i am pretty confident with tools

i have a 54 reg scenic the part number renault give me was 8200646838

Hello Stephen, the "dealer" may have caused this problem by taking the fuse out ... the jerky movement is normal operation after the fuse has been removed or the regulator has been worked on , there is a reset sequence where you "teach" the window the top stop and bottom stop for the regulators movement, after it has been learned the window should operate normally, its worth doing this before spending any money ... do a search on the forums.

Hope it helps

Why is it the older I get .... the better I think I was ?

Try getting both driver and passenger window's back to the top of travel position, when there hold both switches up for around 5 or 6 seconds = re-set

Hondo, is it possible this would work on megane CC rear windows, I have a passenger side rear which does not always come up but clicks instead, like the motor is trying to catch hold of the cable but just missing, I have to use my driver window button for that rear window and hold it up till the motor clicks, release it and keep doing this until it catches window then rolls up nice and smooth, may be ok for a week or so but sometimes next roof opening it does it again it is very intermitant I have noticed though this window when down sits very low compared to the other one, you can't see it yet you can just see the tip of the driver rear when fully open.
I need to get in and have a look at what s happening in there sound to me it need a reg but if I can reset the height perhaps that will sort it's head out about where this window should be height wise, perhaps it is opening to low hopefully! bet it not really!
